WebRuth Watanabe is one of Keiro’s most dedicated board members, having served over 40 years prior to her retirement in 2024. Ruth’s life has been one of service, to both the Japanese American community and the Southern California community at large. WebRuth Watanabe was the daughter of Japanese immigrants. She was born in Los Angeles in 1916. At the time of the internment order in February 1942, she was in the final semester of earning her master’s degree in musicology at the University of Southern California.
